Team Slaughter House Cycle's Mike Leavitt Takes Second Overall On Thumpstar With Strong 2-2 Finish!

Team Slaughter House Cycle's (SHC) Thumpstar Ace Mike Leavitt has again struck fear in the heart of the competition with a second place overall at the Great Lakes Powersports Pitbike Nationals. The competition in the 50cc OPEN class was thick but after riding out a 3-4 finish at Unadilla, Leavitt was ready.

The SHC Team has been working closely with Thumpstar and was running new works components such as BRF frame and USD forks. Big Bad Bob the Mechanic had about 2 days to prepare the bike for Broome and he still looked confident. Still, this bike has barley topped the $3,000 mark. After the race other racers were heard to say "That's about ¼ of what I have in my bike"…we looked around and saw many bikes that looked to be well over $5,000.


Leavitt wasn't worried, he had beat these same bikes last time around at Unadilla so no big deal. SHC fielded two riders this at race, with the SHC Team debut of Shane Lawlor, #113 also looking for that checkered flag on his Thumpstar.

Once the gate dropped it was all business with Leavitt immediately in second with a great start, everyone else dropped back into line and the race was on. Big whoops and big jumps separated the men from the boys at this racetrack.

Shane Lawlor also was looking good out there representing the SHC/THUMPSTAR Team.

Leavitt showed all comers there was no way to get around him, no matter how hard they tried. Leavitt also found himself closing on the leader, but would have to wait for the second race to get another chance. But alas, the story of the second race was a carbon copy of the first, so he had to "settle" for second place overall!!

At the awards ceremony, Leavitt and Team SHC owner Jamie Slaughter enjoy the moment of victory.

And when it was all said and done, the trophy for second went to Mike Leavitt and Slaughter House Cycles. The next outing for the SHC Team featuring Mike Leavitt will be at the Steel City round of the AMA Nationals. See you there!!
